Description

Infinity Reference 31I speakers. Fully revitalized. Pink Cadillac

Infinity Systems was founded in 1968 by a physicist Arnold Nudell, audiophile Cary Christie, and electronics engineer John Ulrick in Chatsworth (California). Nudell and Ulrick, who co-created the laser distance meter at Litton, thought that a servo system for aiming a laser beam at a target could be adapted to control a high quality subwoofer. This is how the company’s first product, i.e. the 3-way electrostatic loudspeaker Servo Static, was created, and Infinity earned the reputation of a technological innovator. In the 70s, further innovative solutions were introduced, such as: EMIT (Electromagnetic Induction Tweeter) tweeter, polypropylene speaker membrane or breakthrough EMIM (Electromagnetic Induction Midrange) technology. The company used most of these innovations in 1980 in the IRS (Infinity Reference Standard) speaker which was almost immediately hailed as one of the best-sounding speakers ever made and a “must have” product in almost every audiophile magazine in the world. In 1982, the company also began producing car speakers and was taken over by the Harman International Company group. Despite the takeover, the Infinity brand is still synonymous with the highest quality of sound based on the latest technological solutions.

The Reference 31I is a two-way bass-reflex speaker system distinguished by great sound quality and very good dynamics. Especially noteworthy are the Infinity tweeters, which are one of the company’s most important achievements. They easily and naturally cover the range and operate at frequencies around 30kHz with no effort. The sound is spacious and clear. The loudspeakers perfectly reproduce both the vastness of orchestral music and the nuances of a chamber performance.

The speakers were cleaned of old coatings and then painted using the automotive wet painting technique. A pink varnish was used and protected with a colourless satin varnish. The loudspeakers are equipped with spikes to stabilize vibrations.

Included are two speaker cables with a cross section of 2 × 2.5mm and length of 2x5m

The set is 100% functional, the speakers are in perfect condition.
